Maharashtra Flood Relief:
STLMM worked with SANGINI for Sangli/Kolhapur flood relief.
Sangli/Kolhapur cities were submerged in flood water for many days. This was the worst flood, these areas have seen, with water rising to 57 feet with continuous rainfall. With dams opening their gates, there were thousands of families which stucked in these flood waters with no food, drinking water, no electricity and no communication network. Due to lesser no. of rescue boats, it was difficult to reach out to large no. of people. Around 55 thousand people were stranded. St. Louis Marathi Mandal(STLMM) contributed to this natural calamity by collaborating with SANGINI. Sangini is a local Sangli group, who contacted us through one of their coordinator in St. Louis- Mrs. Ashwini Pansare, for fundraiser.
WE, with the help of SANGINI, helped nearby areas by providing the basic necessities like food and drinking water, medicines and in rescuing people to safer places, like: schools, colleges, halls and anywhere possible. Packages of dry foods, like: ladoos, chivda, biscuits, plates, milk for babies, etc. were provided. Along with it,medical supplies: Mosquito repellents, sanitary for women, Daipers - all sizes for children, medicines etc. Shawls, clothes, bedsheets, footwares were also distributed.
Volunteers helped in Sangli, Kupwad, Miraj, Madhavnagar, Haripur and rest of the nearby places. Thus, re-estalablishing 1000's of flooed affected families. Please find below the facebook link for the same. https://www.facebook.com/donate/494852741292005/?fundraiser_source=external_url

Kids will not only learn marathi here but will also get a chance to know our renowned and deep rooted marathi cultural by knowing marathi literature(poetry, novels, history, biography, essays).
Classes are held every Sunday for an hour. Kids from the age group of 4-1/2 years are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity provided by STLMM & BMM. You can register your child in Marathi Shala by contacting Mrs. Mayuri Naik (Email to: stlmmteam@gmail.com)
